Well Mr Strawberry is busy sunning himself on a foreign jolly so how have I spent my weekend while he is away?..... sitting in the garden drinking pink champagne while the kids played happily in the sun.
Ok so I fibbed, I've spent the weekend working. Yesterday was spent at Colchester Zoo making animal masks and badges in the Discovery Centre, it proved hot and busy but we did get into the zoo for free so spent the last hour of the day seeing some of the animals with the kids who had been very patient all day.
Today I had planned a lazy day after staying up way too late last night furiously sewing bunting for the festivals....however with time constantly rushing by I am determined to get my website sorted prior to the festival season. What a nightmare, I came very close to giving up several times but perserved but it still miles from being done in fact its hardly begun, so think I'm going to cheat and pay someone else to do it. This is always a bit gutting but i really want it to look good.
So I have been sat at the kitchen table battling on my computer while the kids did play in the paddling pool with not too many arguments.
Well after all that work I needed a treat so I have managed to snaffle my favourite bunting for myself..it is now up on my kitchen wall and I love it. My daughter tells me I have a bunting obsession and I think she might be right! There is just something so cheerful and summery about bunting, whenever I see some I automatically think of summer fetes and festivals... which leads me to think I also just love a field with tents and stalls in it, you can keep the music but I love the tents!!!!!
Last month myself and youngest Miss Strawberry went on a little daytrip to London and visited Brick Lane, fabric shopping. After one shop we came out with our grubby mits on a stuffed full black bin bag with metres and metres of fabric.
Painstakingly this has been turned into over thirty pillowcase dresses ready for the festivals. I did the cutting out and sewed a few but then I cheated and drafted in some help with the sewing as there just isn't enough hours in the day between work and the kids and making tutus!
Atfer hovering round the front door everytime I heard any van, yesterday afternoon they arrived!! My new gorgeous ribbons....just a few to keep me going.
I'm going to have so much fun turning these into scrumptious hair bows and I will be frou frouing those tutus with lots of it as well. Let me just amend that to say I'm going to have so much fun PLANNING what to do with it all, rather than the actual sewing part!
Well this morning well checking my emails and wading trough the deluge of freecycle messages, I spotted an email about an upcoming conference in London, aimed at mums who blog. Well I'm a mum and I blog so thought I could treat myself to a day out, great chance to meet fellow bloggers, learn some new blogging techie stuff and network and try and get the Strawberry Annie name out there.
Check out the link on this page for more information. If anyone else is going and fancies meeting up or travelling up together, just shout.
Well yesterday I spent a lovely couple of hours browsing the Vintage Fair at nearby Brentwood. As usual there were loads of gorgeous stalls with everything you could imagine.
I had the added bonus of meeting up with fellow blogger Julie, from Beach Bygones. Having followed her blog for sometime it was lovely to put a face to the name and she was as lovely as her blog makes her sound.
I didn't buy very much but picked up a couple of little bits included a vintage strawberry hankie which I plan to use to applique my money belt.
Today has been spent in my usual chaotic muddle, trying to sort out my community art officer work and making a mini book for my sons 'mini beast' homework. Nothing like forward planning....
After running my business Fairy Finesse for several years, I have decided to rebrand. I originally started making fairy wings, then added tutus, wands, fairy hair and other fairy related product. I have been selling these at festivals and craft fairs ever since.
Recently I have branched out into more varied products that are no longer fairy themed. The fairy name was starting to restrict what I could sell and where I could sell it, so sadly it is time to move on.
This does however seem a good time for a new beginning hence 'Strawberry Annies' is now alive and kicking. I will be keep you updated on here with new products, feedback from events I have attended and hopefully a few tutorials along the way.
There will also be general chit chat on my life of juggling being a mum to three kids, working as a community arts officer, creating for Strawberry Annies and I will still be fluttering my fairy wings.
Tea loving, cake eating, crazy trike riding woman with red hair, I love creating for Strawberry Annie's, busy building my brand while juggling being a mum to three children (well two little ones and one almost adult!)
